Big first helps Blue Jays beat Armena

On another cold and windy night in Armena, it was once again a slow start for the young Armena Royals, and unlike opening day, it cost them.

Rookie Lyndon Galvin got the start for the Royals and struggled a bit off the wonky Armena mound. That coupled with a few errors and some Blue Jay bombs off the left field fence, taking advantage of the windy conditions, staked Holden to an early 4-0 advantage.

The Royals came back in their half with a Jason Buzzell two-out two-RBI double. But the Blue Jays responded right back with two of their own in the second and never looked back.

The Royals would manage to score one in the third, and load the bases with just one out, but pitcher Braedon Majeski worked out of trouble and stalled the Royal threat.

Galvin shaped up nicely through the final five frames, striking out seven on the night. The Royals would try to mount another late rally in the seventh but again strand two more runners and close the book on another cold and windy night in Armena.

The Royals hope to host a summer-like night now Tuesday against Camrose. Game time is 7 p.m.
